Gilroy – Craig Avila Bail Bonds successfully defended its Men’s B League softball title Tuesday by slipping past Team Talamo 19-18 in nine innings as Las Animas Park.

Esco Hernandez and Rich Rodriquez turned consecutive doubles into the game-winning run to capture the 90-minute showdown. Craig Avila Bail Bonds and Team Talamo split the first two games of the best 2-of-3 Championship Series.

After Team Talamo struck for eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take an 18-15 lead, Craig Avila Bail Bonds countered with three in the sixth, Ruben Ramirez’s RBI single making it 18-18.

Team Talamo loaded the bases in the seventh but could not score. The eighth inning went by without a runner.

Ramirez went 5-for-6 to take game batting honors. Johnny Salgado went 5-for-5 for the losers.

Feather Haven Mill turned back Chicks N’ Sticks 12-8 to earn the Co-Rec B League title.

John DeCarlo Jr. lashed a home run, two doubles and a single for the champions. Mike Leslie went 4-for-4, Dave DeCarlo 3-for-3 for the Mill.

Rico Lopez paced the Sticks with a home run, double and single.

Carlos Naranjo went 4-for-4 to help California Silk Screening past Aladdin Bail Bonds-Rhino Wiring 22-5 in the Men’s CC League finale at Christmas Hill Park.

Gabe Ponce and Joey Garcia each delivered a double and two singles for Cal Silk. Ryan Dequin homered and singled for Aladdin-Rhino.
