Dear Editor,
After reading the “Our View” in the Nov. 10 Dispatch, I had to respond “ditto.”
I agree with everything the editorial board concluded. Bonfante Gardens is a beautiful park, but the entrance fee is too high. What are they thinking? I have been there three or four times but would go more often if the entrance fee was affordable. I would enjoy taking my family when they come to visit or my grandchildren in the summer. We would go out with family, too, for the Christmas lights.
As the editorial said, for a family of four to go to see the Christmas lights it would cost about $112 plus parking and food. It would end up costing somewhere between $140 and $175 for a couple of hours of evening fun. I don’t think so.
I urge the new management team to explore the benefit of making it affordable for the local community. If it becomes more affordable, the local community will become repeat customers and they will bring relatives and friends from outside Gilroy who will come back and bring their friends and family. It is a beautiful park, and I hope we all get to enjoy it for years to come.
