SALINAS – The Gilroy High boys golf team improved upon last week’s fifth-place finish at the first Tri-County Athletic League meet of the season with a fourth-place showing Monday at Salinas Golf Club.

The Mustangs narrowly edged Salinas by two strokes to secure fourth place.

Alex Siao posted a team-low score of 44 in spite of difficult playing conditions.

“The course was extremely windy, but the kids played well through the 30 -plus mile-per-hour winds,” head coach Jared Gamble said.

Chris Martinez carded a 47, Mitch Goldsmith had a 45, Wesley Thiegles posted a 50, Cory Gawan finished with a 53 and Tommy Cox penciled in a 49 to round out the GHS scores.
