HAGEN TOURNEY: Alvarez defeats CHS in Round 2

Cougars score four times in second half.
All it took was a stern halftime pep talk to get the Christopher High boys soccer team back on the right track.

Coming of of a 6-0 loss the day before to Willow Glen, a squad CHS head coach Stephen Casey says is one of the top teams in the section, the Cougars hit the halfway point of their tilt with Woodside Priory on Saturday tied 1-1.

Casey said his talk triggered something in the Cougars who responded with a four-goal second half en route to a 5-2 victory in Homestead Christmas Cup competition.

Cristian Manzo tallied three times in the game, with one assist, Carlos Jimenez scored and had an assist and Angel Trejo hit for the Cougars’ other goal, which was assisted by Marcus Harrell.

The Cougars (2-4-1) take on GHS tonight at 6 p.m. at Gilroy High.
