Mustangs can shore up a TCAL crown with a win at home
Thursday.
No first-half shutout this time.

In the first meeting between the Gilroy High and North Salinas boys soccer teams, the Vikings kept the Mustangs scoreless in the first half – the first and only Tri-County Athletic League team to do so this season.

On Tuesday, the Mustangs deposited two goals in the first 40 minutes en route to a 3-0 victory in Salinas.

Jonathan Diaz De Leon, Luis Urias and Jose Gabino Ramirez tallied for the Mustangs (14-3-2, 10-1 TCAL) who now sit one-win shy of their first league championship since 2006-07. That same year, GHS went on to win the Division I Central Coast Section title.

A win Thursday against Salinas would give the Mustangs that coveted league title.

Thursday’s contest, which will double as Senior Night, is set for a 5:30 p.m. start at Garcia-Elder Sports Complex.
