League Girls Minors championship game with a 12-2 victory over the
Goldsmith Seeds Riptide.
GILROY – The Don’s Vending Brakettes earned a trip to the Gilroy Little League Girls Minors championship game with a 12-2 victory over the Goldsmith Seeds Riptide.
Getting on the board early with three runs on five hits in the first inning, the Brakettes took a quick lead. Outstanding defensive work by Riptide catcher Camille Garcia and third baseman Amber Herrera (two pick-offs and a force-out at third) limited the damage.
The Brakettes broke the game open two innings later on Maddie Cox’s bases-clearing triple. Cynthia DelReal had two hits for the winning side and Maria Sandoval continued her strong pitching with 11 strikeouts while allowing no hits in her five innings of work.
Garcia had an outstanding game behind the plate for the Riptide with three pickoffs and two force-outs. The Riptide’s two runs were scored by Garcia and Jacqueline Granados.
The Alice Cortez Bail Bonds Thunder, Westside Grill Bandits and Riptide will battle it out for the right to face the Brakettes in the championship game being played Saturday.
