Dear Editor,
I could not believe the writer who is so self absorbed and out
of touch with reality that they wanted more upscale homes so she
could have a place to shop for organically grown foods, while there
are so many people in town who just want to be able to afford to
buy a home to call their own.
Dear Editor,
I could not believe the writer who is so self absorbed and out of touch with reality that they wanted more upscale homes so she could have a place to shop for organically grown foods, while there are so many people in town who just want to be able to afford to buy a home to call their own.
It must be wonderful not to have to think of the plight of others. Doesn’t she realize that there is quickly becoming an entire generation of kids born and raised in Gilroy who are starting to be forced to look out of state in order to afford a home of their own. Not everyone can have a career where they make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. There are many who, even if they plan to live with their parents in Gilroy for a number of years after entering the job market, may never be able to buy in Gilroy. These are not late comers to Gilroy. These are people who have had family in Gilroy for multiple generations.
I applaud the City of Gilroy for trying to make it possible for these people to return to and live in the town they have always been proud to call home. Lets let Morgan Hill and the cities to the north supple the upscale homes and stop making our hometown people drive from the Central Valley to be with friends and family they grew up with. In our own family, I have nieces and nephews moving to Nevada, Oregon, Washington and many other states looking for affordable housing and not for a Whole Foods Store.
