Dear Editor,

I just wanted to let the community know that the leaving of Mr. Bob Bravo, a.k.a my brother, is going to be a loss to the students as well as the city of Gilroy.

Mr. Bravo has many unique characteristics that many people may have seen while around him, but he also has many good qualities some people have never have seen.

I worked side by side with him on a daily basis. He was my boss in charge of security at Gilroy High School.

Well, where do I begin to start describing a man who’s been a great co-worker and friend. He was like a teddy bear, a brother and for some a stern boss, but fair in all ways. Mr. Bravo was always the first to find out pros and cons in all situations – good and bad. He would never make a decision without looking at both ends.

I have a couple of experiences I would like to share. One fond experience was on a fishing trip to the Santa Cruz Harbor that included staff and some close friends. We had a blast shooting the breeze and enjoying a nice warm Saturday, fishing and chatting. It was a day of tranquility from the norm of our daily routines.

Another experience was when a situation escalated at GIlroy High. Mr. Bravo knew his staff could handle the situation and secure the premises as rapid as possible. Our number one priority was the safety of the students and staff.

Mr. Bravo did his best to make sure that outsiders in the neighboring cities and counties didn’t have a negative perception of Gilroy High School, especially after an unfortunate event that took place at the school.

I have learned a lot from a great man, brother and friend, and I appreciate and respect a man of his magnitude. Mr. Bravo will be greatly missed by me. He taught me many lessons, and he helped me grow to who I am. Brother, I love you and good luck.

Many students, staff, parents and friends will forever remember his compassion when he sought out in educating youth to respect of one’s self and others around them. Countless people in our community will proudly miss him.

Robert Rodriguez, Gilroy
