Young Artists Show

City of Gilroy Community Services Department presents “The 2005 Young Artists Show,” an exhibition of local talented artists ages 5 through 18, Saturday, April 23 through Friday, April 29 at the Willey Cultural Center, 140 Fifth St.

The exhibit will be open from noon to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday; from 3 to 7pm Monday through Thursday; and 3 to 6pm on Friday.

‘Earth Day Festival’

The City of Gilroy and Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society present “2005 Earth Day Festival” on Saturday, from 10am to 2pm at Christmas Hill Park.

Enjoy free food, free activities, live animals, birdhouse building, compost and woodchip giveaway, visit with eco and wildlife organizations and bird walks throughout the day, starting at 9am. Heavy rain will cancel the event.

Raffle For Girls’ Softball

Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) and Sports, a non-profit girl’s softball organization, is selling raffle tickets outside of Nob Hill, 777 First St. in Gilroy, every Friday through Monday in April, from 3 to 7pm on Fridays, 8am to 5pm on Saturdays, 1 to 5pm on Sundays and 3 to 7pm on Mondays.

The tickets cost $2 each or $5 for 3. Prizes are shopping sprees at Nob Hill in the amounts of $150, $250 and $500.

Drawing will be held on May 2. Participants do not need to be present to win.

‘Advance Health Care Directives’ At Library

Gilroy Library, 7387 Rosanna St., will hold “Advance Health Care Directives” from 11am to 12:30pm. Learn how to name a surrogate decision maker and describe how you’d like to be cared for when you can’t speak for yourself.

Go Out And Get Biking

The Health Ministries Program of Gilroy Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a Biking Group every Saturday, at 8:30am, leaving from the parking lot by First Street Coffee House.

See ‘The Fantasticks’

South Valley Civic Theater presents “The Fantasticks” at the Morgan Hill Community Playhouse at 8pm on April 23, 29, 30, May 6 and 7; and at 2pm on April 24 and May 1.

Cost is $15 for adults or $12 for students and seniors.

‘Rocky Horror Show’

Gavilan College Theater Arts, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., presents “The Rocky Horror Show” on Fridays and Saturdays, April 23, 29 and 30 at 8pm. Saturday night performances are participation nights. The Saturday performance will feature a sign language interpreter.

Cost is only $12 for adults, $10 for students and $8 for kids 12 and under. Parental discretion is strongly advised.
