Burglars disguised as utility workers invade homes
Last week, Bay Area police responded to two cases where thieves dressed up  as PG&E workers to break into people’s homes, and the Gilroy Police Department has urged Gilroyans to be cognizant of these incidents.

The cases were in San Carlos and Oakland, and both dealt with a burglar in a utility worker disguise who stole money and jewelry from the victims, GPD said in a press release.

PG&E is working with local law enforcement to investigate these crimes.

Residents should always ask to see valid identification before allowing anyone claiming to be a PG&E representative inside their home, the press release warns. If a person claiming to be a PG&E employee has identification and someone still feels uncomfortable, they should call PG&E’s customer service line at 1-800-PGE-5000 to verify an appointment or PG&E’s presence in the community.
