Gilroy – Three men who had cocaine worth about $1 million were arrested in Gilroy Saturday morning.

The Drug Enforcement Administration, Santa Cruz County Narcotics Enforcement Team, and Watsonville Police Department had been investigating the men for about a month.

Albert Jose Munoz, 33, of Watsonville, Cesar Pena Maldonado, 30, of Watsonville, and Antonio Jose Lozano, 43, of Aromas, were arrested in a shopping center parking lot north of Pacheco Pass Highway about 10:20am.

They possessed about 5 kilograms of cocaine – worth about $250,000 wholesale and $1 million on the street – at the time of their arrest, according to the Unified Narcotic Enforcement Team (UNET), which assisted in the arrests.

Police served search warrants at the men’s Watsonville and Aromas residences, and seized an additional 1 pound of cocaine, 1 pound of marijuana and 0.5 ounces of methamphetamine.

The men were booked into Santa Clara County jail and face federal charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute. They are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
