Carmen Sanchez Mendez died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at her San Jose home. She was 70.
Mrs. Mendez was born Sept. 6, 1934 in El Paso, Texas to the late Rosario and Josephine Sanchez.
Her greatest pleasure in life was her grandchildren, Jeanine, Peter, John Paul, Junior, Jonathon, Richard, Jeff, Philip, Rachelle, Michael, Joey, James and Frankie Ray, plus eight adorable great-grandchildren. Carmen’s family and friends will always remember her listening to music and dancing in her kitchen. Her sense of humor and feisty spirit will be missed, but to know she is blessing the heavens and watching over her loved ones is a comfort.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, John F. Mendez Sr.; children, Deborah (John) Haro of Folsom, Cindy (Cecil) Navarrette of Hollister, John (Patricia) Mendez Jr. of Tracy and Carol Mendez of Ceres; sisters, Candy and Alice; brother, Richard; many nieces and nephews; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held from 2 to 9pm today at Chapel of Flowers. A vigil will be held at 7pm.
Funeral services will be held at 9am Thursday, April 14 at Sacred Heart Church, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
