Gilroy – A talent competition will be held at the Gavilan College Theater 6pm, Saturday, Feb. 24. Any Gavilan student or staff with talent from singing, to dancing, performing arts, spoken word and any kind of talent is welcome to compete for cash prizes.
Auditions will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8pm, in the student center. Tickets are $5 with an ASB card and $7 for the general public.

Get the tools for dealing with loss
Gilroy – Are you grieving the loss of a loved one? Experiencing empty nest syndrome? Suffered a divorce or a financial loss? You’re not alone. Aggie Ternasky, a grief counselor for 15 years will address the grief process and will provide tangible tools for coping with loss. This free seminar and breakfast is 9am to noon, Feb. 24.

Improve skills, study Spanish in Spain
Gilroy – Learn or improve your Spanish language skills while you study and travel this summer through the Gavilan College summer program in Sevilla.
Students will earn up to five units of university-transferable college credit while living with a host family in Sevilla, Spain.
The trip runs from June 3 through 30, and costs about $1,500 plus airfare. An orientation meeting will be held at 9:30am, Feb. 24 to provide an opportunity to learn more about the program.

County seeking grand jury candidates
San Jose – The Santa Clara County Superior Court is seeking volunteers to serve on its 2007-08 civil grand jury.
Applicants must be 18 years old, have lived in the county for at least one year and be willing to serve a minimum of between 20 and 25 hours per week. The deadline to apply is March 5. The term will begin June 28, 2007.
The grand jury can examine all aspects of county and city governments and special districts. The jury may also look into conditions of jails and adult and juvenile detention facilities.
