Projections for the industry aren’t pretty and parks of this size require investments to maintain their appeal. Important decisions loom; let’s be sure we’re open minded and realistic about all the options for the park’s future.

JEERS to the Oakland Raiders for cutting Gilroy native Jeff Garcia from its roster this week. The move was a big surprise and disappoints his many Gilroy – and Bay Area – fans who were excited to have the chance to see Garcia playing locally again.

CHEERS to the interagency cooperation that led to the arrest of fugitive Joel Barnes, 39, who had appeared on the newspaper’s Most Wanted list. Thanks to the hard work of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, and Watsonville police, a dangerous suspect is behind bars on $375,000 bail facing numerous felony and misdemeanor charges.

JEERS to the trash and pollution that finds its way into our creeks, and CHEERS to the volunteer efforts to remove it before it further damages waterway ecosystems, obstructs water flow or finds its way to the ocean.
