UPDATE: At 5 a.m., Monterey California Highway Patrol arrested four suspects in San Miguel for this robbery as well as two other recent robberies in Morgan Hill and King City. The suspects were stopped in a silver Lexus, and evidence in the car linked them to the Chevron robbery in Gilroy, according to Police Sgt. Pedro Espinoza. Names and photos of suspects have not yet been released.

At 12:55 a.m. Tuesday, a man held a gun to the clerk at Chevron Gas on the 5800 block of Monterey Road and demanded money and merchandise, fleeing on foot before Gilroy Police arrived on the scene just minutes after the incident.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s, 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He wore a dark colored mask and dark clothing. Police believe he fled eastward from the store on foot, but that the suspected might be associated with a silver BMW or Honda four door that was seen leaving the area shortly after the robbery.

The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of money and was not injured by the suspect.

The incident is being investigated by Gilroy Police. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the GPD at (408) 846-0350. Parties wishing to remain anonymous may call We-Tip at 1-800-782-7463 (800-78-Crime).
