Child porn suspect pleads not guilty

The Gilroy man who was arrested by the FBI in October for two felony counts of child pornography plead not guilty Oct. 29 in federal court. 

Aaron Carlon, 42, was issued a no-bail warrant before Magistrate Judge Howard Lloyd at the California Northern District Court in San Jose for charges relating to possession and receipts of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexual conduct. 

Carlon was arrested at his workplace on Oct. 29, on a warrant for two felony counts of child pornography.

The Judge ordered that Carlon undergo a psychiatric evaluation and provide the results to the court by Nov. 14. 

A hearing for Carlon is set for Dec. 3 in San Jose. 

The day of Carlon’s arrest, a person who wished to remain anonymous contacted the Dispatch and said about eight FBI agents came in unmarked cars and quietly walked into Carlon’s office to arrest him at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 29. 

Carlon faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the first count, as well as a 10 year-prison term and a $250,000 for the second count. 

Carlon’s home on the 200 block of Lewis Avenue was raided by FBI on Feb. 2, but did not press charges against Carlon until October.

Now that Carlon’s charges are public, court records indicate that FBI agents took two hard disk drives, six thumb drives, a Dell desktop computer and 11 floppy disks allegedly containing depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct during their Feb. 2 raid. 

Since February, Carlon continued to go to work in the customer service field at an undisclosed location.
