SOUTH COUNTY—Authorities are seeking witnesses to a late-night sexual assault that took place Wednesday off of U.S. 101 in southern Santa Clara County.
A woman in her early 20s said two men sexually assaulted her near the Coyote Creek Golf Drive freeway exit north of Morgan Hill after she accepted a ride from the pair, according to a statement from the California Highway Patrol.
The victim told investigators she was waiting outside the entrance to the Shoreline Amphitheater following a concert by rock band Incubus Aug. 26, when the men pulled up next to her and asked if she needed a ride home, authorities said.
The men then allegedly drove her to the freeway exit where the woman described being sexually assaulted. She reported the incident at 11:50 p.m.
The men, described as Hispanics in their early 20s, fled the scene and were not located, authorities said. The victim told investigators they went by the names of Michael and James; both men were described as approximately 5-foot-7 with dark hair, brown eyes and clean-shaven faces.
James, the victim said, had several tattoos, according to the CHP statement.
Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or encountered two men matching similar descriptions under similar circumstances, to call (408) 848-2324 and ask for CHP Officer Davies.
“CHP reminds everyone to never get into a vehicle with a stranger. No matter how trustworthy they seem, listen to your intuition,” the Thursday statement reads.
