Winning entry in the category of "Best Digital Media" submitted by Julianna Vanni, a senior at Christopher High School.

Juliana Vanni, a senior at Christopher High School, was awarded “Best Digital Media” for a piece of artwork she submitted to the 2012 Congressional Art Competition.

“An Artistic Discovery” is the annual art contest conducted by members of Congress for high school students across the country. The competition provides Congress and the public an opportunity to encourage and recognize the rich artistic talents of young American high school students.

Vanni’s creation was completed in her Advanced Digital Design and Animation class, which is taught by Mark Carrick at CHS.

A panel of judges were “impressed by the powerful message they saw in your entry,” wrote Congressman Mike Honda in a congratulatory letter to Vanni.

Vanni and a handful of other students who submitted winning entries will be honored during a student art reception May 14 in the Santa Clara Central Park Library.
