Despite a heavy push for recruitment, there are still two open seats on the City of Gilroy’s Public Art Committee that need to be filled, according to City Clerk Shawna Freels.
The City Council will be conducting interviews at 5 p.m. April 9 in the Council Chambers located at 7351 Rosanna St. The Council will then make the appointments on April 15 at 6 p.m. The two members of the public selected to join the Public Art Committee will serve four-year terms ending Dec. 31, 2016.
Members of the public with a strong background in the visual arts, art education, public art, art management, architecture and design, art history, art criticism, or arts advocacy are strongly urged to apply. If art is your life, then this is the ideal opportunity to help shape Gilroy’s Public Art Plan.
The Public Art Committee meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located at 7351 Rosanna St. in Gilroy.
Those interested can find an application form on the home page of the City’s website at www.cityofgilroy.org or they can pick one up in person at the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall.
You can return a completed application in person, via email, or even regular mail. Return the application form to Shawna Freels in the City Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. April 2.
