GILROY – The Gilroy City Council will consider the following items of interest at its meeting Monday:

• The city’s budget situation. City Administrator Jay Baksa is expected to unveil different sets of proposed budget reductions that could be triggered by various factors in coming months. Officials are preparing several different versions of the budget to be able to react to different scenarios, such as whether the state leaders decide to take away car-tax money to help plug up the state’s multi-billion shortfall.

• An update on design progress for the controversial Village Green senior housing project. After a delay, Coastal Rim Properties has submitted revised design plans for an Alzheimer’s care and assisted living facility that’s a centerpiece of the multi-use project. Although their analysis isn’t yet complete, so far city planners say the new plans seem to meet City Council concerns.

The Council will also consider whether to require the developer to enter into a performance agreement to require timely construction of the facility.

• A request for a 45-day delay on a hearing that will determine whether the city annexes a 66-acre Day Road property that’s targeted for a new high school, housing and/or a church and parochial school. Neighbors have hotly opposed the projects that could be allowed by the annexation. Developer Glen-Loma Group, which applied for the annexation, would use the time to determine whether it needs to amend its application to the city.

• A recommendation to award an $823,000 bid to Giacalone Electric for a utilities undergrounding project along Santa Teresa Boulevard and Fifth Street.

• A request for all-way stop signs at Bay Tree Drive and Lions Creek Drive.

• A proposal to re-bid for improvements at the city’s Corporation Yard after some confusion over whether a last-minute bid was submitted late.

• An update on the Gilroy Visitors Bureau’s efforts.
