Gilroy – Parker Hathaway’s two-out grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Claddagh Brew Crew past Kenko Utility Supply 13-12 in Men’s E League softball action at Las Animas Park Thursday.
Billy Ashford went 4-for-4 and Mike Potter contributed three hits and drove in three runs to help Kenko to a 12-7 lead after six innings.
Chris Hoiberg’s two-out RBI-single kept the Claddagh (2-0) rally alive in the seventh. Willie Weihman’s RBI-single made it 12-9. After Rick Hoiberg drew a walk to load the bases, Hathaway lined a home run to centerfield.
John Jimenez singled home Rudi Groppe in the bottom of the seventh inning as Heinzen Manufacturing trimmed St. Mary Men’s Club 16-15.
Henry Juarez and Shawn Chizanskas each singled and scored in the top of the sixth to give St. Mary Men’s Club a 15-14 lead. An infield error and singles from Groppe and Manny Freitas set up the Jimenez heroics.
Freitas belted two home runs and Jimenez one in a 5-for-5 effort. Juarez went 3-for-3, Chizanskas 3-for-4.
Steve Borgna homered and Dorean Washington went 4-for-4 as the Players defeated the South Valley Community Church Sons of Thunder 13-5.
Josh Nicholson went 3-for-3 and Ron Reinhard scored twice for the 1-1 Sons of Thunder.
Victory Outreach moved to 2-0 in second-half Men’s E play Thursday with an 18-17 nod over VFW Bingo at Christmas Hill Park.
Richard Ponce singled home Roger Hanrahan with the winning run in the bottom of the final inning. Ponce finished with four hits and Jose Esquievel bagged two triples for Victory Outreach. Chris Stainton hit two home runs and Frankie Perez notched two doubles and a single for VFW Bingo (1-1).
Tony’s Embroidery is 2-0 after a 19-11 victory over the Assassins. Henry Maquinalez went 3-for-3 and Robert Muro 3-for-4 for the Embroidery. Robert Aguirre went 3-for-3 for the Assassins.
The SVCC Men of Thunder turned back Team Beefy 21-6. Mike Swanson and William Parton each powered four hits for the Men of Thunder. Chad Link stroked a two-run double and Nate Mah tripled for Team Beefy.
