Harrington tosses six solid innings in 7-2 victory to put Irish
in first in boys minors
GILROY – Pitcher Thomas Harrington pitched a six-inning complete-game and Brandon Pickets drove in three runs for the Claddaugh Irish Pub Dodgers in Saturday’s 7-2 victory over the Radiator Doctor Dodgers.

The Irish moved into sole possession of first place in the boys minor standings with an impressive 14-1 record, while second-place Radiator Doctor (13-2) lost for only the second time this season

Pickens, who doubled, singled and walked, as well as teammate Christian Salazar, who doubled, supplied the offensive punch for the winners.

Jordan Maquinalez scored a run for host Radiator Doctor and pitched three strong innings along with pitcher Rudy Maquinalez.

The Claddaugh also got some solid defense with Ryan Ramirez and Johnathan Mendoza starting double plays to get out of jams. For Radiator Doc, Travis Franco was a defensive standout.

Both teams have one game remaining.

In Friday’s boys majors action, Dinsmore Enterprises and Fritter & Schultz Physical Therapy battled to an 8-8 tie score.

Dinsmore managed 10 hits, highlighted by Nick Marra (home run, 2 RBIs) and Michael Aldridge (3-for-4, 3 runs-scored. The Enterprises gave the game ball to Andrew Lanier for his sporstmanship, attitude and effort.

Fritter & Schulz matched the offensive outburst led by Jose Gamboa (2-for-3, 3 RS) and Jacob Gonzales (2-for-4, HR) as well as Zach Colton, Angel Gamboa and Max Fishler.

On the mound, Dinsmore’s Adrian Lujan, Michael Hartman and Josh Raney combined for 11 strike-outs, while Physical Therapy’s Juan Delgado and Angel Gamboa teamed up for 10 strike-outs.

Defensive standouts for the Enterprises were centerfielder Joseph Lara, who saved two runs with his glove, Nick Gibson, Homer Garza, Michael McGill, and Dalton Campbell.

Strong defensive games for Fritter & Schulz came via Michael Fritter, Juan Delgado, ,and Jardin Valdez.
