I’ve started formulating a plan in how we can achieve this
goal.

First of all, we need a handful of volunteers who might be interested in shooting local sports. Again, you don’t have to be a pro. We’ll teach you!
Perhaps you’re a parent, and are attending games anyway. Wouldn’t you like to see your son’s or daughter’s game featured on Cable Channel 19?
So far, I’ve spoken at Gilroy High School, and made contact with Anzar and San Benito High School to try and get the ball rolling. This is an ambitious goal but will pay off once we all get to enjoy the games on ED-TV Channel 19.
To kick off the idea, I put my money where my mouth is and shot the Gilroy High School Boys and Girls Swim Meet on March 19 by myself.
Let me tell you how committed we are to this. There I am, sitting next to the pool at Live Oak High School in all of my pregnant glory (five months to be exact), shooting this three-hour meet with a single camera.
Honestly, I had a blast, got a tan, and received several thank yous from coaches and parents who were happy to see a video camera there.
I mentioned to several people that shooting these events is very doable. CMAP has the equipment, will train people, and will air the finished product. I’ll even volunteer to direct a couple of games to get the ball rolling.
I’d like to put a call out to any sports fanatics, family members of athletes, or community members who would like to participate on the production crews to see local sports get on the air.

We know you’re out there. You sit in front of the TV, screaming at the referees and umpires, doing your own play by play in the solitude of your living room, where only the dog can hear you. It’s time to come out of the closet! Your talents are needed too! If you’d like to give a little “on camera” time a shot, contact me as well.
