CMAP TV will host a summer-long Genre Film Showcase Series in downtown Gilroy, featuring a curated lineup of short films created by filmmakers from Gilroy, Hollister, San Juan Bautista and surrounding communities.

The series will span four themed screening nights throughout June and July:

June 12: Comedy Night

June 26: Drama Night

July 10: Horror Night

July 24: Special Screening: Local Feature Film

Each event will offer a community-centered cinema experience, with doors opening at 5pm and screenings beginning at 6pm, says a press release from CMAP TV. Following each screening, audiences will have the opportunity to participate in a live filmmaker Q&A panel and community discussion.

The showcase series is designed to provide a platform for regional filmmakers to share their work with live audiences while encouraging creative collaboration and community engagement through independent film.

Films selected for the showcase will be chosen through an open submission process, says the press release. Eligible entries include new or previously completed short films 20 minutes or less in length that align with each event’s featured genre and are appropriate for public exhibition. A $5 submission fee applies.

In addition to the screenings, audiences will be invited to vote for their favorite film of the night, with a People’s Choice Award presented following the filmmaker panel discussion. Guests can also enjoy refreshments, local vendors and opportunities to connect directly with participating filmmakers and fellow creatives.

General admission to the series is $5, with tickets available online through Eventbrite (additional Eventbrite fees may apply). Filmmakers with selected films will receive complimentary admission.
