Editor,
SBC residents concerned about the future course of SBC’s local government may find an answer in COG’s selection of person to guide COG’s future transport law and policy. Yesterday was the deadline for submission of applications by professionals experienced with transport law, local, state and federal. So, will COG’s Directors select someone to cling to the status quo, nationalization, statism, government ownership of carriage of passenger businesses, increasing deficit spending of taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars for a system that at present moves more than 98 percent of the bus seats empty throughout SBC and to enter-county destinations, wasting preciously expensive fuel? But who cares, the taxpayers are paying the for it. Right?
Or will we see them hire someone to steer a course for reform of the wasteful, unsound, unsustainable transport policy that puts motorists at risk while all “unmet transit need” are paid for with gas taxes, sales taxes, etc.?
The answer we see from COG’s Directors will accurately predict the future course we take.
Caveat Viator!
