Should Gilroy police officers and firefighters donate the money they earn patrolling and assisting the Garlic Festival back to the festival?

â– Yes. Donating their time (not money) should be strongly encouraged. Many of the volunteers who work the entire festival have businesses to run, jobs and families but somehow find the time to give back to the community. Why should the Gilroy police and firefighters be an exception?
â– No. This is extra pay for them and well earned, though there may be too many officers at the festival by my observation.
â– No. They eat dust, put up with some belligerent people and spend most of their shifts in the heat.
â– No, it would be nice but should not be mandatory, especially in light of cutbacks.
■No. They should donate it to the Gilroy Gang Task Force since apparently lack of funding is the reason we have gang fights – while important council men are drinking their cafe lattes.
â– No. They are on duty, correct? Why would they donate time that they work to a Festival that relies on volunteerism? Over the years I have seen these people in action and without them we would not have the stellar safe-and-sane reputation at the Festival that we do!
