Three earthquakes shake Gilroy
Three earthquakes—the largest registering a 4.0 magnitude—occurred in Gilroy early in the morning Nov. 26. The earthquakes occurred between 6:16-6:20am, according to the U.S. Geological Survey’s website.
The smallest of the earthquakes was 2.7 in magnitude, the USGS reported.
Police and fire departments have not reported...

Program allows Gavilan transfers to law schools
For Gavilan College graduate Michael Treviño, an initiative to get more students to law school is personal. Treviño was the first in his family to go to college. He attended community college before transferring to the University of California, Berkeley, and eventually went to law school at the University of Washington. Treviño is now the director of undergraduate admissions for the University of California system.

Catholic Healthcare West, one of the nation's largest hospital systems that once included Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy, announced Monday it is severing its affiliation with the Catholic Church and changing its name to Dignity Health, according to Kaiser Health News.
