Dear Editor,
Vic Vanni’s letter published Feb. 16 was most insightful,
thoughtful and right on! Mr. Vanni’s suggestion that the city
council do its job and move toward the repeal of binding
arbitration regarding the police and firemen is sound and
necessary.

It is the duty of elected officials to represent taxpayers regarding financial negotiations – and that includes wages and benefits of public safety personnel. To turn this function over to an arbitrator is not acting responsibly.
Do the right thing, city council. The people of Gilroy deserve better.
