Two women attempted to pass the bills at several businesses
Police are looking for two women who allegedly attempted to pass counterfeit $100 bills Wednesday night in order to receive change in return, according to Morgan Hill police Special Operations Sgt. Jerry Neumayer.

Officers have a sketchy description of the two women, both described as black adult females in their 20s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall. One of the women has curly hair and some kind of tattoo on her chest and was wearing dark clothing Wednesday night. The other had her hair in a ponytail and was wearing a gray and white sweatshirt.

The women visited at least four local businesses between the hours of 6-9 p.m., most of them in the Cochrane Road area.

Possibly starting at Trader Joe’s on Laurel Road, the women allegedly attempted to work their scam, presenting the fake bills in payment for small items hoping to receive change in return. They tried their scam at the Starbuck’s on Walnut Grove Drive before moving north, hitting the Peet’s Coffee on Cochrane Road and the Baskin Robbins in Cochrane Plaza.

At the Starbuck’s, Neumayer said, an employee confronted the women when presented with a counterfeit $100, but instead of continuing with the bluff, the women ran from the business, leaving the bill behind.

At the Baskin Robbins, they were apparently successful in passing off a bill and receiving change. The store has a surveillance camera, however, and the suspects were caught on tape.

Anyone with information about the women or the incidents is asked to contact the Morgan Hill Police Department at 779-2101 or leave information anonymously with Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP.
