Adams hits for cycle in 16-13 victory to create three-team tie
for first place
GILROY – Covenant powered past the Plunderers 16-13 to create a three-team tie for first place in the Men’s DDD League Sunday at Las Animas Park.
Rich Adams hit for the cycle and drove in seven runs for 2-0 Covenant. Jose Villarreal went 3-for-3 and scored three runs, while Brian Moreno went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs for the winners.
The Plunderers set a new high for offense when Gilbert Tovar’s RBI-single in the fifth inning produced the 13th run. Robert Hernandez, Russ Black and Tovar each went 3-for-4 for the Plunderers. Kurt Maltman drove in three runs.
Victory Outreach improved to 2-0 in the second half of play in the Gilroy Community Services Department program with a 22-7 decision over the Chippendales.
John Osaki and Matt Coughlin each drilled two hits and Victory Outreach completed the victory with a nine-run uprising. Osaki and Coughlin each finished with four hits.
Joel Vaca provided three hits and scored four runs for Victory Outreach. Manuel Juarez came off the Chippendales bench to hit a home run. Kevin Giordanengo doubled and tripled, while Eddie Cordia and Nick Magee added two Chip hits apiece.
No Soup 4 You moved to 2-0 by defeating Bay Sheets 29-12.
Fausto Padilla paced the Soup attack with a 6-for-6 effort, including a home run and eight RBI. Jason Jones struck for five hits, Richard Luna and Eddie Yanez four apiece for the winners.
Will Reed launched a home run and two singles for Bay Sheets. Joe Benavides added a two-run homer.
