This week Gilroy Police responded to a variety of crimes, including residential burglary, hit and run, DUI, assault, fraud, embezzlement, and a rash of vehicle thefts. Arrest log is from Dec. 31 to Jan. 8.

Assault

-On Jan. 7 at 7:40 p.m. on the 200 block of IOOF Avenue after a failed attempt to mitigate issues between them, an unidentified 13-year-old male bit one counselor and kicked another counselor several times in the face, also pulling a large amount of hair from the counselor’s head. The youth was arrested and transported to Juvenile Hall.

Residential Burglary

-Dec. 31 at approximately 11:30 p.m. on the 200 block of Wild Iris Drive, unknown suspect(s) broke into a home and stole several shotguns, laptops, jewelry, and cameras.

DUI/Hit and Run

-Jan. 1 at 1:53 a.m. on the zero hundred block of Morningside Circle, Meghan Nicole Segura, 21, was arrested for DUI/Hit and Run. The victim followed Segura’s 2008 Ford Fusion in her own car after the collision occurred and reported Segura’s whereabouts to police. Segura subsequently failed a field sobriety test and was arrested.

Embezzlement

-Jan. 1 at 7:10 p.m. on the 6700 block of Camino Arroyo, Alicia Marie Ferrari, 19, was arrested after an internal investigation for stealing $1,370 in cash from a Target store while she was a seasonal employee from Dec. 23 to Dec. 28.

Fraud

-On Jan. 2 on the 700 block of Painter Court, a victim discovered that his checking account number had been used on a fraudulent check at a loss to the victim of $1,550.

Grand Theft

-On Jan. 2 at 4:27 p.m., two unidentified suspects entered the Michael Kors store on the 8100 block of Arroyo Circle and stole 12 purses valued at $3,000 and fled the area in a waiting car.

Auto Burglary

-On Jan. 2 at approximately 8:00 p.m. on the 100 block of Martin Street, an unknown suspect stole an iPad, an iPod, a camera, sunglasses, and a woman’s black coat from a vehicle.

-On Jan. 3 sometime between midnight and 7:30 a.m. on the 700 block of Williamsburg Way, an unknown suspect stole tools and equipment from a work van with the loss totaling $2,000.

-On Jan. 4 at 11:30 p.m. on the 7600 block of Rosanna Street, an unknown suspect(s) smashed the side window of a vehicle and stole a laptop, a leather laptop bag, and a camera with a loss of approximately $1,200.

-On Jan. 6 at 12:35 p.m. on the 500 block of First Street, an unknown suspect(s) broke a window to enter a vehicle and stole a purse, a Spanish bible, prescription glasses, and a Verizon cell phone.

-On Jan. 6 at 4:20 p.m. on the 7800 block of Monterey Street, an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a locked vehicle and stole a purse, a wallet containing $2,000 in cash, identification cards, and a Macy’s credit card.
