GILROY – The Gilroy High boys and girls varsity cross country teams swept dual meets against North Salinas and Everett Alvarez on Monday at Christmas Hill Park.
The boys defeated North Salinas 19 to 41 and Alvarez 19-44 to improve to 3-1 in the Tri-County Athletic League.
The girls captured the top-three places for victories, 21-34 over North Salinas and 23-32 against Alvarez. Athena Alarcon paced the field with a 21:13 followed by teammates Savannah Silacci (21:26) and Maritza Ruelas (21:31), who finished second and third, respectively.
Prior to Monday’s meet, the Mustangs participated in the Serra Crystal Springs Invite, where the boys placed fifth out of 24 teams and the girls took eighth.
Tim Williams posted the top time for the Mustangs, completing the 3-mile race in 16:48. Kyle Collett registered a 16:51.
Ruelas was the girls’ top finisher, clocking a 19:49.
