with a 9-6 upset of Radiator Doctor at Gavilan Sports Park.
GILROY – DALEO remained in the Co-Rec C league pennant picture Tuesday with a 9-6 upset of Radiator Doctor at Gavilan Sports Park.
Radiator entered play with a 4-0 record and two-game lead with two games to play. DALEO moved to 3-2, one game behind 4-1 Radiator. The regular season ends Aug. 5.
DALEO took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and never trailed. A Kurt Gitmed triple, Jose Melendrez double and an infield error produced the DALEO runs. Radiator Doctor responded with two runs in the same inning. Henry Maquinalez singled and scored on a Ryan Rojas triple. Jesse Marquez singled home Rojas.
Melendrez socked a run-scoring triple in the third as DALEO scored three runs for a 5-2 cushion. Gitmed doubled in one run in the fourth, then scored on a two-run Rich Furtado double in the sixth. Will Hill homered in the DALEO seventh.
Tracy Nelson led the DALEO offense with three hits. Rojas went 3-for-3 and Maquinalez scored twice for the league leaders.
Dutchman’s-Big Kahunas joined DALEO in second place at 3-2 with a 17-0 decision over Team FX.
Rudi Groppe hit a grand slam in a 10-run first inning, then a two-run home run in the second for Dutchman’s-Big Kahunas.
Spencer Straub went 3-for-3, Danny Benz 3-for-4 with four runs scored for the winners. Tony Martinez and George Smith each went 2-for-3 for Team FX.
Handmade Healthcare kept its title hopes alive in the Women’s B League Tuesday at Las Animas Park with a 17-2 victory over Don’s Vending.
Mary Ellen Valdivia went 5-for-6 as Handmade moved to 3-2 for the second half. Williams Dental Lab, a forfeit winner over the Krazy Koyotes, is in first place with a 4-1 record entering the final week of play.
Erica Dickens and Missy Howe each scored four Healthcare runs. Lisa Sanchez provided three hits and scored four Handmade runs. D.J. Simpson slapped four singles. Kathy Van Hoy lined a double and single, Megan Myrick two singles for Don’s Vending.
