Plaque will be installed at Gilroy High flag pole
Gilroy – A bronze plaque memorializing U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jeramy Ailes, who died in battle in Fallujah, Iraq Nov. 15, 2004, will be dedicated at Gilroy High School’s flag pole at 12:30pm Wednesday.

Ailes, 22, was the first Gilroyan to die in battle since Vietnam and an alumni of Gilroy High School. The U.S. Marine Corps band will play Taps during the ceremony and raise a flag to half-staff.

The dedicated flag will then be presented to the family of the slain marine, said Student Activities Director Jack Daley. High school staffers chose to stage the ceremony at lunch to give students and staff the chance to attend.

The public is also welcome.
