An across-the-board fare increase for rides with the Valley
Transportation Authority takes effect Jan. 1. The adult fare for a
single ride will go from $1.50 to $1.75. A day pass, which allows
unlimited rides on all buses and light rail, will increase from
$4.50 to $5.25.

An across-the-board fare increase for rides with the Valley Transportation Authority takes effect Jan. 1. The adult fare for a single ride will go from $1.50 to $1.75. A day pass, which allows unlimited rides on all buses and light rail, will increase from $4.50 to $5.25.
Rides on express buses will go up 16 percent, from $3 to $3.50. An unlimited express pass for one day will cost $10.50. The new fee for a monthly pass is $61.25. An express monthly pass is $122.50. Youth passes are $49 monthly, senior and disabled passes, $26.
Youth passes for regular and express service are now $1.50, up from a $1.25. There is no increase in one-time ride fees for seniors and disabled, though the fee for paratransit service will jump from $3 to $3.50.
The VTA estimates that the far increase will add $4 million to its operating budget in the next year.
Apply for a grant from the Gilroy Foundation
The Gilroy Foundation is accepting requests for applications to apply for a grant for 2005.
The Foundation funds civic, cultural, educational, health and recreational programs benefiting the Gilroy community. Applicants must be a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
The application can be downloaded from the Foundation’s Web site: www.gilroyfoundation.org. Or call the Foundation offices at 842-3727 to receive one by mail. The deadline for submitted applications is Jan. 31, 2005.
