GILROY – The Gilroy Garlic Festival will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year. To help kick off the festivities, they have obtained the San Jose Giants Ballpark for an evening of old-fashioned baseball fun for the whole family on Thursday, June 19, at 7 p.m. The San Jose Giants will be taking on the Modesto A’s. The tickets are free and available from the Gilroy Garlic Festival Office, 7473 Monterey St., 842-1625 or the Gilroy Visitors Bureau, 7780 Monterey St., 842-6436. Parking is $4. There will be special garlic events and contests throughout the game.
Senator McPherson in Gilroy
GILROY – Senator Bruce McPherson will be giving a presentation on Friday, June 20, at 7:30 a.m. at the Historic Strand Theater. The event is spon-sored by the Gilroy Chamber of Com-merce Govern-ment Relations Committee and is open to the public. In addition to the senator’s presentation, there will be an opportunity for questions and answers. To reserve a seat, contact the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce at 842-6437. A continental breakfast will be served and the cost is $5 per person.
To death do they part?
MORGAN HILL – Auditions for the adult cast of “Blithe Spirit” will be held at the South Valley Civic Theatre Warehouse located at 8565 Monterey Road, Gilroy (behind Kelly-Moore Paints) on Friday, June 20, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 21, at 10 a.m.
The play’s lead character has no peace in his new marriage as his jealously suspicious dead wife has come back to haunt him. Life begins to get difficult when he starts talking to this specter who is visible only to him and the audience. Auditioners should prepare a short monologue of one to two minutes. Harry Potter pajama party
GILROY – The Wize Owl will have a Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix party and book release on Saturday, June 21, from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Come in costume, pajamas or regular clothes. MORGAN HILL – The Pine Ridge Association presents a summer barn dance on Saturday, June 21, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Henry W. Coe State Park in Morgan Hill.
