Welcome for new scouts
GILROY – All boys from first grade through fourth grade and their families are invited to join the Boy Scouts of America in the Cub Scouting program. GILROY – Gilroy, Morgan Hill and South Santa Clara County are celebrating their commitment to reducing waste by sponsoring a South County Garage Sale Day on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6 and 7. Submit to art exhibit
GILROY – Gilroy Community Services Department will hold the Gilroy Art and Culture Exhibit Sept. 11 through 14, at the Willey Cultural Center, 1400 Fifth St. All entries are due to the Willey Cultural Center on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. The Artists’ Award Reception will be help on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The exhibit will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 11 and 12 and from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 13 and 14. Help run Safe Night
GILROY – Volunteers are needed to help with “Safe Night: Carnival in the Park,” a free community event which focuses on people coming together in the spirit of peace and goodwill. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20. There will be an informational meeting for volunteers on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 3:30 p.m. at the Gilroy Family Resource Center, 8833 Monterey Road. Volunteers are needed from 3:30 to 7 p.m. to help run kids activities, provide guidance and offer support. Volunteers will be given a free lime green Safe Night T-Shirt.
