Antonio Del Buono
principal retires
GILROY – After 32 years and several different positions with Gilroy Unified School District, Antonio Del Buono Principal Pat Midtgaard is calling it quits.
The four-year principal announced her decision to staff and district officials early this week. Midtgaard sent letters to parents Wednesday explaining she would not be back for the 2003-04 school year.
“I’ve worked at basically all the district school’s except Las Animas and Glen View. I’ve been doing this a long time and I feel I’m leaving the school in a good place,” Midtgaard said.
Superintendent Edwin Diaz called Midtgaard “one of the most organized, competent and instructionally focused administrators I’ve ever worked with.” He said the district would try to find Midtgaard’s replacement before the end of the school year.
Midtgaard, an avid traveler, said she and her husband Lorens plan to travel to Mexico and study Spanish, among other retirement plans.
