Sex-offender found
A high-risk sex offender who authorities believed might have been in Morgan Hill was captured without incident at about 1:15 p.m. Thursday in Mountain View.
An anonymous tip led Mountain View police and personnel from the county’s sexual assault task force to where David Leon Duenas, 43, was staying.
Duenas was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for failing to properly register as a sex offender, in accordance with 290 of the California Penal Code.
In the alert issued Wednesday, authorities said Duenas was known to frequent the Morgan Hill and San Jose areas and has lived most recently at 40 Ciolino Ave. behind Albertson’s grocery store. Lt. Joe Sampson of the Morgan Hill Police Dept. said Duenas has also been missing from his place of work for about two weeks.
Sampson said Duenas had complied with parole requirements until a newspaper story in December displayed his photo and address.
Duenas’ criminal history places him in a classification level that reflects the potential to re-offend, authorities said.
