GILROY – The Gavilan Small Business Development Center presents “Writing Your Business Plan” today from 5:45 to 9 p.m. at the Gavilan College SBDC offices at the Dry Creek Village Center, 8351 Church St., Building E. Good planning is the basis of any successful business start-up, and a necessity for a loan application. This workshop will lead you to focus on a marketing plan, financial projections and a strategic plan to put your business on the road to success. Only $20, payable in advance or at the door. Brownell parent club meeting

High school artists gallery
GILROY – Students from Anzar, Gilroy and San Benito high schools are exhibiting their work, featuring a wide range of media, in the show “The Evolving I: Reflections of the Self by Local High School Artists” now through April 2 at the Gavilan College Library, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and closed on weekends. An artists reception will also be held on Thursday, April 1 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Gavilan College Art Gallery. Admission is free. Parking is 75 cents.

Anyone over the age of 18 can participate in the line of cardio and strength equipment, aerobics, personal training, racquetball or more available. See young artists
GILROY – City of Gilroy Community Services Department presents the 2004 Young Artists Show, an exhibition of local talent, through 19, at Willey Cultural Center, 140 Fifth St. Event features the work of young artists from 5 to 18 years of age. The display is open noon to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 3 to 6 p.m. Friday. Special arrangements can be made for school and group tours. Be a Junior Ranger
GILROY – Coyote Lake County Park is having a free Junior Ranger program for kids 9 to 12 years old. Learn about the roles of a Park Ranger, plants and animals in the park, and the Ohlone people who once lived here. Junior Rangers meet six times from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, March 17, 24 and 31, and April 7, 21 and 28. Details and registration: 846-5632.
Celebrate music
GILROY – The Gilroy High School Chamber Singers present “Spring Celebration Of Music,” a concert/wine tasting event, on Saturday March 20, begining at 4 p.m. The concert will feature four renown artists from the Bay Area who have donated their performances to help the Chamber Singers go to Germany. In April 2004, the Chamber Singers will be performing in the East German cities of Berlin, Leipzig and Dresden, as well as in the city of Prague in the Czech Republic. Guest performers will be Maria Armirkhanian, concert pianist, Emil Miland, cellist, Karen McConachie, soprano singer, and Ruth Butterfield-Winter, orchestral pianist. The Gilroy High School Chamber Singers will also be performing. Local fines wines and hors d’oeuvres will also be included in the event. Tickets are $75 and $100 per person.
