Workshop on

customer service

Gilroy – Learn why customer service skills are so important, the keys to quality service and the 10 deadly “sins” of customer service. Gain the tools to deal with challenging customers and good customer service strategies and much more.

The workshop will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13 from 10am to noon at the Gavilan College SBDC offices located in the Dry Creek Village at 8351 Church Street, Bldg. E.

Wheels of Freestyle at St. Mary’s School

Gilroy – On Thursday, Oct. 14, St. Mary’s School presents “Wheels of Freestyle,” a touring group that does bike stunts and teaches chlldren the benefits of being ‘drug free.’

This activity will take place at 2pm on school ground and is celebrated in anticipation of Red Ribbon Week.

Neighborhood health clinic open house

Gilroy – South Valley Junior High presents a “Gilroy Neighborhood Health Clinic Open House” on Thursday, Oct. 14, from 4:30 to 7pm.

Serving youths up through the age of 18, Gilroy Neighborhood Clinic is a resource for families in need of free or low-cost medical care for kids.

Balloons and prizes will be available for children. Learn Halloween safety with GPD, get dental screening for kids with The Health Trust, learn about low-cost health care for adults with the RotoCare Health Clinic and more.

Learn how to be a Mystery Shopper!

Gilroy – Course held on Oct. 15 from 6:30 to 9:30pm. If you like to buy clothes, play golf, watch movies, eat out and rent videos, then you can become a mystery shopper. Earn extra money and have fun at the same time.

This is a great part-time job for students, retirees, and stay-at-home parents. Learn how mystery shopping works, what types of assessment forms are used, how to complete an assignment and how to get into the “shopper’s network.”

Gilroy – In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, GNC is distributing a woman’s health guide that focuses on early detection and prevention of breast cancer.

All customers who wear a pink ribbon to GNC on Oct. 15 – National Mammogram Day – will receive 10 percent off their purchase of regularly priced items.

In 2004, California will report 21,1860 new cases of breast cancer and more than 4,060 female breast cancer deaths, according to the American Cancer Society.

Student becomes Principal for a day

Gilroy – On Friday, Oct. 15, Nickie Ellis will be Principal for the Day at St. Mary’s School. Her parents purchased this honor for her at the Blue and White Auction, our school’s major fundraiser.

Nickie will plan special activities for the day, visit classrooms, communicate with our pastor and superintendent of schools and write a column for the parent newsletter in addition to visiting each of the classrooms.

Gilroy – A Friday Night Music Series is being held at the Gilroy United Methodist Church.

This group of elementary school students has performed before Rotary and in the Memorial Day Parade.

• On Nov. 5 at 7:15 pm enjoy an evening of Irish music featuring Audrey Haller, a concert vocalist, who will sing popular Irish folk songs. Audrey has performed with her sister as well as in serveral operas.

This two-hour class will help you shoot like a pro and stop taking ‘snapshots’. No camera needed. Instructor James M. Mohs is the award-winning chief photographer of The Dispatch.

Explore United Against Diabetes Health Fair
