Power out at

mobile home park

GILROY – About 30 units at Wagon Wheel Mobile Village were still without power this morning after a small fire Saturday afternoon during the weekend storm.

“We had a partial power outage,” Manager Roger Patereau said. “It’s just one of those things that happen.”

A main service panel burning out was responsible for the power outage, but Pacific Gas and Electric was able to set up generators to restore power to 90 units of the 120-unit park located at 8282 Murray Ave.

“We energized most of the park by rerouting power,” PG&E spokesman Jeff Smith said. “The electrical panel is the responsibility of the park.”

Patereau said the site’s electrician was fixing the panel and power should be restored by the end of the day.

“We’ll get everyone up by noon today,” he said. “We’re doing everything we can to get people where they need to be.”

Injuries in restaurant accident

GILROY – Four people suffered minor injuries when a car drove into the side of the McDonald’s Restaurant on Leavesley Road near the Gilroy Outlets.

Shuxia Li, 42, of San Mateo, and her three children were treated and released from St. Louise Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

The accident occurred at about 4 p.m. Saturday when Nora Lyons, 74, of San Jose, drove her 1990 Cadillac into the side of the McDonald’s restaurant.

“I think she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake,” Gilroy Police Cpl. Jason Kadlubosi said. “We were lucky. It could have been a lot worse.”
