GILROY
– Each of the finalists for the Gavilan College president’s
position will be on campus for public forums, campus tours and
final interviews with the Board of Trustees Monday to Wednesday,
Oct. 28 to 30. Each day, one candidate will attend a forum where
various campus groups and the general public
can ask questions and make comments.
The sessions will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in room S.S. 210
on the main campus in Gilroy. The school reported Wednesday that
two forums would be held each day, but later combined the sessions
into one.
The school board will make its decision in a closed session
meeting on the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 30. It plans to formally
announce the new president by Nov. 18.
The order of appearance for the candidates follows:
• Oct. 28 – Paulette Perfumo
• Oct. 29 – Patricia Spencer
• Oct. 30 – Steven Kinsella

Little Shop Of Garlic
GILROY – What do you get when you combine a 14-foot bulb of garlic, Motown hits from the 50’s and a John Bisceglie show? You get the new, outrageous, Sci-fi, B-Movie parody “Little Shop Of Garlic.” The play features more than 45 local young actors, and will be held in the Gilroy High School Theater for one last weekend. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Admission is $10 for Friday and Saturday evenings and the Sunday matinee; $8 for Saturday’s matinee. Harvest Party
GILROY – Saturday, Oct. 26 marks the date of the Kirigen Cellars Harvest Party, from 1 to 8 p.m. at 11550 Watsonville Road in Gilroy. Attractions include music by the “Firebirds” blues band, food and wine, barrel tasting, and discounted wine sales. Tickets are $20 per person. For more information, call 847-8827.
Halloween Boo Bash:
MORGAN HILL – DJ Jammin J presents the sixth annual Halloween Boo Bash, Saturday Oct. 26 at the Camelot, 275 E. Dunne Ave. in Morgan Hill. Admission is $5 with a costume, $10 without, and a $200 Costume Contest will be held. The party starts at

Haunted ranger station
GILROY – Visit Coyote Lake County Park on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26 and 27 for the second-annual Coyote Lake haunted ranger station. Check out spooky critters, bob for apples, play games and activities and have some Halloween fun. Event runs from 5:30 to 10 p.m. both nights. Costumes are optional. Tamale Fiesta
GILROY – Saturday, Oct. 26 will be the third Annual Tamale Fiesta for the Steven D. Mendivil Memorial Scholarship Fund. It will be held at the Veteran’s Hall at 74 W. Sixth St. from 6 to 9 p.m. to raise money for the scholarship. A tamale dinner, entertainment, raffle and auction will be held. Dinner donation is $15 per person. For more information, call 848-6489.
Pet Costume Contest
GILROY –The Gilroy PETCO will hold a pet costume contest on Saturday, Oct. 26, at noon. The store contest winner will recieve a $25 PETCO gift card. Kids can enter the coloring contest, and try to winn s $5 PETCO gift card. For more information, check www.petco.com.
Carnival for breast cancer
MORGAN HILL – The Morgan Hill Safeway Store will sponsor a Saturday Carnival to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and research. There will be activities for children, teens and adults, too. Dunk the store management and other store personnel in a dunk tank, play carnival games or watch the sumo wrestling. The event is Saturday, Oct. 26, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., East Dunne Avenue and Highway 101 in the west parking lot. Details: 776-8720.
