VTA Veteran’s Day Schedule
SAN JOSE – Santa Clara Valley Transport Authority (VTA) buses and light rail will operate on a regular schedule on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11. The VTA administration center at 3331 North First St. will be closed. VTA Customer Service will be available from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. by calling 321-2300.
Planning Advisory Board
SAN MARTIN – County supervisors are looking to fill two vacant positions on the San Martin Planning Advisory Committee. Members meet locally at least once a month to review land-use proposals, plans and policies affecting San Martin and make recommendations to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.

WERC Holiday Party
GILROY – WERC, the Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center, invites its supporters and the public to a holiday reception Saturday, Dec. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Rapazzini Winery, 4350 Monterey Road, Gilroy. This is WERC’s way to say thank you to their volunteers, donors and corporate supporters. Through everyone’s generosity, WERC is able to provide care for orphaned, sick and injured native wildlife, and return them to their natural habitat, and present educational programs for area schools and youth groups. GILROY – Mark your calendars for the St. Mary Mother’s Guild Annual Country Christmas Boutique to be held on Friday, Dec. 6 from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Country Christmas Boutique will feature over 40 vendors selling a variety of arts and crafts and other homemade items. Elves in the Attic
MORGAN HILL – The Elves in the Attic Third Annual Christmas Boutique and Bake Sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Advent Lutheran Church in Morgan Hill. Walk on the wild side
MORGAN HILL – A series of bird walks will be led by Jane Haley, a National Park Service docent for 20 years and Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center volunteer, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16 and Dec. 14 from 9 to 11 a.m. Participants will discover an appreciation for local birds, their habits and ecological importance as they walk along the Coyote Creek Trail, north of Morgan Hill. Participants can attend one or all of the walks. Due to terrain, these walks aren’t recommended for young children. The program is free; space is limited and reservations are required. Holiday Lights Parade
MORGAN HILL – The Morgan Hill Kiwanis, in cooperation with the City of Morgan Hill, is once again bringing in the holidays with the 2002 Holiday Lights Parade. The parade will take place in downtown Morgan Hill on Saturday, Dec. 14. The Parade will begin, rain or shine (or snow!) at 5:30 p.m. The Parade will host a variety of local businesses, community groups, bands, and just people (and pets) full of the holiday spirit. The Kiwanis Club is hoping to once again have a special guest from the North Pole brought into Morgan Hill aboard the Magic Ship. The Morgan Hill Kiwanis puts on the parade as a service to the community. In advance of the parade, the Kiwanis, Rotary, and other local service clubs volunteer their time to decorate the median strips in downtown Morgan Hill. Gift and Gallery Walk

Giving Tree at City Hall
MORGAN HILL – In coordination with Community Solutions, the City of Morgan Hill will sponsor Giving Trees in the lobbies of City Hall and Public Works during the holiday season. Residents may choose a name from the tree and return a gift for a needy child or adult. The gift tags will be available the Monday after Thanksgiving.
