GILROY – Dan Keith Septics became the first team to win the 2004 season championship Sunday by topping Bay Sheets 23-2 in Men’s DDD League play at Gavilan Sports Park.

Dan Keith Septics marched to a 6-0 record for the second half. Aladdin Bail Bonds-Rhino Wiring, the first-half DDD titlist at 6-0, won the DD League’s second-half title. Dan Keith Septics, the lone team at 5-1, became the first-half champion.

Danny Rabacalva, Jose Pacheco and Robert Vantassel hit consecutive home runs in the Septics fifth inning. Rubacalva (two homers) and Vantassel each went 4-for-4. Phil Cabrera went 2-for-2 and Jason Corona and Roman Gaeta socked sacrifice flies for Bay Sheets.

The Hitmen claimed the second-place trophy for the DDD League with a 16-1 victory over Most Wanted.

Shawn Hernandez went 4-for-4 and scored four runs for the Hitmen, 8-4 for the season. Kurt Maltman and Isaiah Rodriguez each went 3-for-3. Mo Bedolla went 2-for-2 and scored the Most Wanted run.

California Overhead Doors struck for eight runs in the fifth inning and tripped Victory Outreach 13-8.

Ken Johnson hit two singles in the Overhead fifth frame. Jason Trujillo went 4-for-4 with three RBI for California Overhead Doors. John Hernandez homered and Art Tomasetti delivered three singles for Victory Outreach.

Chicks N’ Sticks moved to 5-0 atop the Co-Rec League schedule Sunday with a 12-11 edging of Team Hair FX at Las Animas Park.

Benny Sanchez hit a grand slam as the Sticks rallied for nine runs in the second inning to erase a 6-0 Hair FX lead. D.J. Simpson and Sanchez each finished with three hits for the 11-0 league leaders. Gilbert Ramirez and Jerry Johnston each accounted for three hits for Team Hair FX.

Shawn Cronk hit a three-run home run and Danny Benz scored four runs as Dutchman’s Pizza-Big Kahunas upset Mitsubishi Motors 14-0. Monica Melendrez went 2-for-3 for 3-2 Mitsubishi Motors.
