In the American political landscape, we collectively spend plenty of time criticizing the way things are. Fortunately, that is our right and it is well exercised. But the truth is, we have the power to change the way things are at the ballot box. Don’t like either major party candidate for governor? Research the others and vote. Don’t like those, then write someone in.

The point is to participate. Lack thereof amounts to forfeiting the game and should also carry a penalty: no complaining until the next election that “they ” don’t know what they’re doing.

Guess what, folks, that collective “they” refers to each of us. We choose the government we have.

Choose to not participate – as seemingly more and more do – and the system becomes more vulnerable to negative influences. The power of the people diminishes every time a person chooses to tune out and turn off.

It’s your choice Tuesday. Do the right thing. Vote.
