Sophomore guard drains four treys in 72-33 tourney victory
MONTEREY – Sophomore guard Nicole Donley erupted for 30 points, including four three-pointers, to lead the Gavilan College women’s baskteball team to a 72-33 romp of host Monterey Penisula College on Saturday.

“That was the most unselfish 30-point performance I’ve seen,” said first-year head coach Mike Girardi of Donley. “Nicole had open layup opportunities that she turned down in order to give her teammates open shots.”

Lady Rams’ Lacy Byers, Sabrina Morales, Sabrina Murphy, Cynthia Pinto, and Jenn Tremblay also gave solid all-around performances in the dominating victory.

Carolyn Beatty, who has missed the last three games due to an injury, will hopefully return to the lineup around the early part of January.

Gavilan’s record is now 4-4 overall and 1-0 in Coast Conference play. The Lady Rams will play their next game on Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. at Hartnell College in Coast Conference action.

On Friday, the Lady Rams dropped a 68-46 decision to Diablo Valley College in their first game of the Monterey Peninsula Tournament. Donley netted a team-high 12 points.
