DEAR EDITOR:
In response to the mention under the Red Phone section in The Dispatch on the week of July 12 about my residence running a chop shop has caused much grief to my family and I. This is slander! There has never been or will be a chop shop at my residence. There has never been any illegal activity nor will there ever be. I can’t believe that this Gilroy citizen made such accusations.
After my husband passed away, my son and I took on a renter to make ends meet. He was working on several projects and restoring four vehicles. It was neither a business nor a chop shop! I can’t believe that this individual could be so judgmental without knowing the facts. They should be worrying about themselves rather than other people’s business.
This town has many other areas you should be concerned about. Mine is not one of them! I assure you. You have been misinformed and have caused much distress among my family and I. I am so unhappy to think that someone would report something without knowing the facts.
In the article you notice there were no complaints about my residence. Does that tell you something?
The Gilroy Police Department is an excellent and well-respected department. The officers have done an outstanding job in our community.
Also, for your information, I’m a volunteer for the Gilroy Police Department. Therefore, I assure you, I’m not running anything illegal at my residence.
I’m a well-known citizen of Gilroy and this upset me a lot. I can’t believe people can make such cruel and degrading comments. I hope you sleep well at nights. I know I do.
Nancy Romero, Gilroy
