Doris Francis Lincoln Lane died July 23, 2004, at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She was 79.

Mrs. Lane was born in Omaha, Neb., on Jan. 19, 1925.

She was raised in Omaha, but after marrying William Lane Jr., “that boy from California,” he brought her back to Gilroy where they raised their three children, Joey, Janice, and Sharon.

Mrs. Lane brought a sparkle to life. She was known for her commitment and loyalty to her family and friends. Her infectious good-natured spirit overflowed into volunteer organizations such as Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church, Wheeler Manor and St. Louise Hospital, PEO Past President in 1978 and President of Gilroy Women’s Golf Group, to name a few.

Mr. and Mrs. Lane were avid golfers and could be seen quite frequently out at the Gilroy Golf Course five days a week, rain or shine.

Two and one-half years ago she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Joseph and Pam Lane of Bakersfield, Janice and Ed Darden of Fresno and Sharon and Steve Loveseth of Port Costa; grandchildren, Tiffany, Crystal and Bill Lane, Holly and Jesse Smith, Brooke and Jeff Bergman, Ed Darden IV, Hillie Loveseth; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years William Lawrence Lane, Jr.; brother, Randall Lincoln of Texas and sister, LaVerne Young of Nebraska.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral celebration at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 30, 2004, at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy.

Remembrances may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society or the Gilroy Presbyterian Church.
