The special Christmas offering, dramatizing the four apparitions
of Our Lady Of Guadalupe to the Indian messenger Juan Diego in
1531, is a reenactment of the miraculous events that inspired the
religious rebirth of Indigenous Mexico a mere 10 years after the
Spanish Conquest.
SAN JUAN BAUTISTA – There are just a few opportunities left to enjoy El Teatro Campesino’s biennial spectacle of vibrant music, sacral theater and Aztec Dance, “La Virgen Del Tepeyac.”

The special Christmas offering, dramatizing the four apparitions of Our Lady Of Guadalupe to the Indian messenger Juan Diego in 1531, is a reenactment of the miraculous events that inspired the religious rebirth of Indigenous Mexico a mere 10 years after the Spanish Conquest.

The production marks the 32nd year of El Teatro Campesino’s Christmas productions in San Juan Bautista.

Performances run through Sunday. Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for students and seniors, and $10 for children. Performances are Friday through Sunday at 8 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 4 p.m.

El Teatro Campesino’s “Zoot Suit” also has extended its run of “Zoot Suit,” the critically acclaimed play by Luis Valdez.

Almost two weeks before the show opened, tickets for the seven-week run already were sold out due to popular demand. People all over California, even around the United States have come to San Juan Bautista to catch this production of the play.

“Zoot Suit” continues to catch fire and will continue to run until Jan. 12. Extended performances run until Sunday. After a two week break for the holiday season, the show will continue to run from Jan. 2 to Jan. 12.

Tickets prices range from $8 to $20. Performances Thursday through Saturday are at 8 p.m.; there are two matinees Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday 3 p.m.
